Imani Uzuri, eclectic and dynamic, is often compared to artists like Grace Jones and Nina Simone as one who defies category. Featured at numerous international venues, this bohemian spirit "... never fails to mesmerize audiences with her narcotic blend of...ethereal sounds." (Time Out New York). UZURI has collaborated and recorded with the likes of Herbie Hancock, John Legend, 4-Hero, Talib Kweli, King Britt and Sly and Robbie. Television appearances include performing with Peter Gabriel on David Letterman.
To celebrate Joe’s Pub’s 10th Anniversary, on October 11th and 12th we are offering 10 free shows showcasing the depth and variety of performances that have made Joe’s Pub the premier venue for live music in New York City.
