Manze Dayila and the Nago Nation

Manze Dayila and the Nago Nation

Show Description

"You hear this voice?" Manze Dayila asks. "My history is why I sing the way I do today."

Dayila has lived the blues, yet chooses to sing a universally positive message. It's power is underscored by the richness and depth of her voice. At 19, Manze landed on Miami Beach on a raft - 9 months pregnant - a refugee from Haiti. Discovered in the NYC subways, Dayila performs her original brand of Vodou music in a modern afro-beat/world-fusion setting alongsideher band The Nago Nation. The Nago Nation includes percussion/vocalist Evens "Zelebo" Seney and rapper Bennchoumy Elian.

Dayila's debut CD Solé, on As Is Entertainment Records is available on iTunes. The album includes her beautifully crafted pop songs in english, arrangements of the Vodou songs sung in Kreyol, which she learned from her ancestors, and electronic remixes of roots music that clearly establish Manze Dayila as the "Empress of Vodou Music".
