Show Description
“Singer and unconventional cellist Trevor Exter plucks and whacks at
his big instrument and guides it through multiple climaxes.”
-Time Out New York
"If you're expecting a sedate orchestra recital, you'd better think
again.... Exter's crooning voice harkens back to an era of music where
men weren't afraid to wear their hearts on their sleeves."
-Chris Kocher, Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin
Trevor Exter was born in Ithaca, NY. He always played different things but kept coming back to the cello. He sits with the cello and sings, but he plays it weird - like a tiny bass, aquatic guitar or gigantic ukulele. He also hits it sometimes – watch out. He's been a sideman with many indie artists around NYC, and he almost won "NYC Soundtracks" in 2008, which is sort of like American Idol for buskers in the New York Subway (but cooler). Trevor started singing in Brazil and then with De La Guarda here in NYC. Tonight he’ll feature his duo with the fiery young drummer John Kimock. The band is informally referred to as EXTER vs. KIMOCK, and the ensemble of the two is truly enthralling. Rarely does a cellist get to go head-to-head with a drummer. They have opened for Wayne Krantz at Sullivan Hall in NYC and for Rasputina at North Star in Philadelphia and are working on an album of Trevor’s new songs.
A one-year New York Magazine subscription, a $9.97 value, will be included with your ticket purchase for this show! Feel free to click here for more information.

Trevor Extor and John Kimock have great chemistry-- you owe it to yourself to check them out. Plus, they're both just so damn cute. Look at those cheekbones! Ahem... no really, it's all about the music...
