Vladimir Volkov, widely considered one of the leading double-bass players of Europe, is a music phenomenon surpassing genres, styles, and classifications. A permanent fixture on international festival scene, Volkov combines avant-garde, improvised music with traditional folklore roots and free jazz in a very creative way. The alliance of Volkov with Auktyon’s Fedorov started back in 1996, and eight albums and over a hundred performances later, the duet has become a cultural phenomenon in Russia. The result is utterly worldly, unabashedly eclectic and instantly accessible to international listeners.
