Singer, songwriter and pianist Lia Ices
recorded her debut record "Necima" with producer Nicolas Vernhes
(Deerhunter, Silver Jews) and released it in 2008 on Verhnes' brand new
Rare Book Room Records. The album was a well timed and much needed
contribution to the ever changing Brooklyn psychedelic folk/pop scene.
It received great immediate praise from publications like the Fader and
Pitchfork, who proclaimed that "when Ices and Vernhes find a creative
symbiosis...the results are spectacular." Sound Fix began their review
of the release with "Best new artist of 2008? Very possible."
The album generated three cinematic and quite diverse music videos,
shot on 16 mm everywhere from a desolate, snow covered mountain in
Vermont to a gothic cathedral in the NYC's East Village.
The release of the album lead also to great live opportunities, finding
Lia opening for Juana Molina, Loney, Dear and Iron & Wine, as well
as playing increasing numbers of headline shows and special events,
with her powerhouse of a band, including Robbie Lee (Love As Laughter,
Baby Dee), Elliott Kessel and Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley, Martha
Wainwright).
Lia is hard at work on a brand new follow up single for Rare Book Room
Records, as well as writing and arranging her sophomore album.

Mike Bones is the not-so-secret identity of guitarist and songwriter Mike Strallow; as Strallow, he's established himself as one of the top guitarists on the New York underground/independent scene for his work with Soldiers of Fortune, Damon McMahon, Lizzie Trulie, and the Mighty Flashlight, while under the name Mike Bones he's stepped out as a solo artist, recording his own songs, which allow him to show another side of his musical personality. The first Mike Bones album, The Sky Behind the Sea, was released by the independent label The Social Registry in the fall of 2007.
