Show Description
"More than a teacher and cultural ambassador representing Continental cultural history, she is a confrontational entertainer and heir to the political cabaret tradition of Weimar-era Germany. Where sensibility and feelings come first for American cabaret singers, Ms. Lemper doesn't perform anything that isn't propelled by an idea."–New York Times
A Voyage Through Kabarett and tango in Berlin, New York, and Buenos Aires: Tales of Love, Loss and Fatal Passion.
Join Ute Lemper as she explores the world of Berlin Kabarett , the backstreets of Monmartre and Pigalle with the French Chansons Realistes and the fantastic, sensual songs of Argentinian Tango in between Buenos Aires and New York.

I have caught most of her Joe's Pub performances and I am excited to see her perform "The Bukowski Project" this week.
There is a very good video interview with Ute on PBS, where she talks about Bukowski and contemporary cabaret. Worth checking out.

TSAR STEFAN, Kabarett Savant, wrote in his Blog of UTE LEMPER'S performance on November 24, 2007 at Joe's Pub:
DEAREST FRIENDS & CABARET LOVERS !
IMPERIOUSLY!
TRUELY!
IMPERIOUSLY!
Imperiously, UTE LEMPER planted her stilettos upon the stage of Joe's Pub last Saturday night, reducing her entire audience to captive lovers!
With a joy, she challenged the audience musically, intellectually, emotionally, and politically!
A very, beautiful woman, wearing a long, sexy, shimmering, black dress and, yet, almost naked, reminding all not to be so complacent but to be aware and thoughtful, experiencing life with the heart, the mind and the soul!
How appropriate are her Weimar Era Kabarett songs in today's world!
Whether doing her repertoire in French, German, English, or Yiddish, she is equally at home with every nuance of each language!
She speaks with her face, body, legs and hands as much as with her voice, heart , mind and soul!
UTE LEMPER, without doubt, is one of the Greatest Cabaret Artists of all!
Long may she rule!
There is no one else like her!
Run and catch a performance by UTE LEMPER anywhere, anytime!
XXO.Stefan!
