João Luiz and Douglas Lora have perfected a sublime synchronicity and effortless performance style, appearing together for more than ten years as the Brasil Guitar Duo.  Winner of the 2006 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, the Duo mesmerizes audiences with tunes from its native land (samba, maxixe, choro and baião) as well as works for classical guitar duo (Bach, Sor and Scarlatti).

Based in São Paulo, the musicians tour the U.S. regularly, with prior appearances at New York’s Downtown River to River Festival, Symphony Space and Barbés in Brooklyn.  Rounding out their concert schedule are shows in Brazil, Panama, England, Austria and Korea.

Bom Partido, the Duo’s first all-Brazilian CD, was released in 2007.  For Naxos Records, the Brasil Guitar Duo recorded the complete works for two guitars by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, released separately in 2008 and 2009.
