Show Description
"In
recent years, Engine Company Records, an independent label in New York founded
by Blake Morgan, has had success with contemporary artists . . . (This) might
seem a risky venture. But the music is terrific, and the performances
compelling." —The New York Times
Four of New York
City's finest recording artists perform together on the same stage in the
second Engine Company Records label showcase. National recording artist and ECR
founder Blake Morgan will debut new songs from his forthcoming album and
perform fan favorites alongside label-mate Melissa Giges, who is
celebrating the worldwide release of her debut album, Evident. Backed by
a full band, Morgan and Giges will be sharing the stage, performing their songs
as co-headliners with special appearances by ECR artists and label-mates Gil
Morgenstern and Jonathan Ellinghaus.
BLAKE MORGAN
Billboard Magazine writes, "Morgan has a voice that was made to
be heard on the radio." Now, Blake Morgan returns to the stage to
debut never-before-heard songs, as well as perform fan favorites from his
acclaimed albums Anger's Candy, Burning Daylight, and Silencer.
"Maverick recording artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Blake
Morgan's studio chops, smart lyrics, and gift for the melodic twist have earned
him a loyal critical and commercial following." —All Music Guide
MELISSA GIGES
"Melissa Giges is already doing what she wants to do—singing the songs
she writes . . . deeply personal songs." —The New York Times.
Melissa Giges has already stepped into the national spotlight with the success
of her first single, "Before I'm Barely Seen," featured on
over 200 radio stations coast-to-coast, and in both the TV ads and the season
premiere of MTV's The Real World: Brooklyn. Her debut album, Evident,
debuted at #1 on eMusic's Pop-album charts. eMusic is the world’s largest
retailer of independent music and the world’s second-largest digital music
retailer overall, offering more than 2 million tracks from more than 13,000
independent labels spanning every genre of music.
GIL MORGENSTERN
Acclaimed for his
artistry and technical brilliance as soloist with orchestra, in recital, or as
a chamber musician, violinist Gil Morgenstern has performed all over the world
to overwhelming critical praise ("a perfect demonstration of supreme
ability" —The New York Times). His Engine Company Records debut, 20th
Century Duos for Violin and Cello, also marks ECR's first classical
release, about which The New York Times recently wrote, "the music is
terrific and the performances compelling on this surprisingly exciting and
excellently engineered recording."
JONATHAN ELLINGHAUS
On Jonathan
Ellinghaus' Engine Company debut, Leave It All Behind, the quiet push
and pull of human transformation is set against the volatile backdrop of the
east coast seascape where he grew up, and still resides. Indie-Music.com writes,
"Jonathan Ellinghaus brings the real deal, a stellar debut. Prepare to
lose your heart, to convert, to sign zee papers: He is that good. Label owner
and producer Blake Morgan dared to dream of a company that created a home for
musical artists. Jonathan Ellinghaus (and we listeners) are the happy
beneficiaries of this revolutionary dream, and Leave It All Behind is
the sweet fruit."
