Joe Hurley’s St Patrick’s Day extravaganzas have been the highlight of the holiday for years and has sold out nights at many of New York City’s top venues, including The Highline Ballroom, Webster Hall and The Bowery Ballroom. This year, on March 17th@ 11:00 p.m., Hurley presents 'My Wild Irish Roses": ' An intimate evening of Irish Ballads, Singalongs, Rabble Rousers, and Rebel Songs' featuring an All-Star Cast of NYC's finest performers including Tony Winner Michael Cerveris, Laura Cantrell, Annie Golden, Colum McCann, Sam Bisbee, Ed Rogers, Don Fleming, Ellen Foley, Mary Lee Kortes, and many more.
National Book award winner, Colum McCann said “He’s an old seanchaí in a rock star’s shoes, a poet of microcosm with a stereoscopic vision, a balladeer with a whole lot of landscape in his voice. Joe Hurley is one of the great song writers of our time”
In 2011, Joe Hurley, Johnny Depp and Keith Richards received universal raves and won two Audie Awards for their narration of Richard’s best-selling LIFE, including the prestigious “Audiobook of The Year.” Entertainment Weekly raved “Given the choice between reading Keith Richards’ rocking memoir, or listening to Johnny Depp, Joe Hurley and Richards breathe LIFE into my ear, there’s no contest: The rasping, growling, low-down audiobook is where I want to be with Johnny, Joe and Keith contributing their own singular infusions of soul and swagger"
Hurley’s latest CD, “The House That Horse Built (Let The Great World Spin)” was co-written with Colum McCann, inspired by his award-winning novel, soon to be a JJ Abrams film.
Recently Hurley sang with Jimmy Webb and Judy Collins on 'Ghost Riders In The Sky' for her 'Paradise' CD, played sold-out dates with Ian Hunter, and performed with Laura Cantrell and the Waco Bros. While 'Musical Artist in Residence' at ILB in Berlin, he read with www.Authorsforpeace.org on International Peace Day , an event now featured in 2012 Guinness Book of World Records.
