"Broad, dramatic and majestic . . . There are elements of tango and classical music and jazz; at times the music sounds like a Carla Bley project. . . This is modern jazz and Latin music at its best"-Peter Watrous
"an unforgettable listening experience that overflows with power and expression."
-Chip Boaz, Latin Jazz Corner
This 13-piece big band, led by Argentine-born Pedro Giraudo, has captivated listeners around the world with its passion and energy. And while its underpinnings are Argentine, it should not be confused with a tango or latin jazz ensemble – it has a “big band” sound, but the original compositions and arrangements by Pedro Giraudo provide surprising twists, turns, improvisations, instrumental dialogues, harmonies, complexities, rhythms. There’s a hint of South American grooves and a yes, a dash of tango to add to its appeal. Pedro Giraudo, in the tradition of such composers as Duke Ellington and Charles Mingus, highlights the unique talents of each band member, masterfully weaving together pre-composed and improvised elements.
