Charles Perry affectionately known as “Charlie” began singing at the tender age of five, as most great vocalists, his singing career emerged out of the black church. By the age of thirteen, he was featured on the album of Montel Thomas, which hit the Billboards, entering in at number 10. From age sixteen to present, Charles was becoming a teenage sensation, he was the youngest actor to earn a theatre role in Vy Higginson’s highly acclaimed musical, “Mama I Want to Sing”. While performing in the musical he was offered the opportunity to sing along alongside and grab the attention of singing greats, Grammy Award winners CeCe Winans and gospel sensation Shirley Ceasar, as well as Stacy Francis and Shana both from the “Waiting to Exhale” soundtrack, all while performing live in New York’s Madison Square Garden. Charles Perry has toured with R&B legends Regina Belle and Stephanie Mills, and continuing on vocally with Sister act’s own Tonya Blount and not to forget Grammy Award winner Lisa Fischer. Charles Perry starred in a play called “This is my song” with Cissy Houston and Tramaine Hawkins. His television credits include the David Letterman show, as well as the Michael Jackson 25th Anniversary Special. He’s sung background with such artist as Liza Minelli, the late great Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Luther Vandross, not to mention Usher, 98 Degrees and Marc Anthony. Charlie was also blessed to have worked with Rap Icons “De La Soul” and was featured on their album “The Grind” which he appeared on their hit song “Reality”. Charlie has also recorded with Stellar Award Nominee James Hall & Worship and Praise at Foxwoods. He’s toured the U.K. with John Legends recording artist “Estelle”.
