Celebrate Hollywood's most glamorous night downtown with comedian MURRAY HILL "the hardest working middle-aged man in show business" as he hosts his ANNUAL OSCAR PARTY at Joe's Pub, Sunday, February 24, 2013. The evening will feature impromptu performances, impersonations of the nominated stars, movie spoofs, interviews from the fake red carpet, movie trivia games and lots of prizes. A Grand Prize goes to the Winner of the OSCAR BALLOT! Ballots will be handed out before the show. The audience will also compete for "Best" and "Worst" Dressed as well as the coveted "Three Sheets To The Wind" award for the audience member who is the most intoxicated. The audience is encouraged to dress like their favorite celebrity for the chance to win fabulous silly prizes.
MURRAY HILL (Mr. Showbiz) will be joined by comedians and performers from the downtown scene. The performers will re-enact scenes from this years nominated films and liven up the evening during the long-winded tributes and montages. This year, Murray and the cast will recreate the top 5 and the worst 5 acceptance speeches in OSCAR history, Joan River’s Fashion Police panel, and red carpet correspondents.
In what has become a downtown OSCAR tradition, Murray provides his infamous running commentary during commercial breaks and leaves no star behind with his barbed wit and one-liners. This year, the hilarious JENN HARRIS will roast Jodie Foster’s Golden Globe speech, MOLLY POPE tackles Les Miserables with her back of the room voice, MIKE ALBO does a scene from Magic Mike, JUSTIN SAYRE spoofs Lincoln and recaps the painfully long movie into 3 minutes, BEN RIMALOWER of course makes sure Patti LuPone is represented, and MURRAY puts on a garbage bag and does his best Bradley Cooper impersonation.
The 85th Academy Awards, an evening of glamour, glitz, and recession denial, begin at 7:30 pm with the E! OSCAR Pre-Show Red Carpet, 8pm ABC Red Carpet broadcast and continues with the complete Oscar telecast at 8:30 pm shown on a giant screen. Oscar drink specials and full dinner available all night.
