Sanda Weigl, the gypsy queen of downtown New York, returns to Joe's Pub for a special tribute to Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf and their secret love affair that started right here in New York City. A meeting at the Versailles Club sparks the flame and from this day forth the Vamp and the Little Beggar girl hide in each others arms longing to forget the past.
They are the Notre Dame of soldiers and queers.
They are the wounds and despair of all the world.
They are the voices of our hearts.
Come spend the evening with two goddesses and a queen as Sanda offers you the chance to embark on a legendary journey, from "La Vie En Rose" to "Lili Marlene."
Romanian born singing-sensation and Sanda Weigl blends gypsy music, cabaret and jazz, reflecting her own life story in every moment of her performance.
Since relocating to New York in the early nineties, Sanda has performed her singular interpretations to critical acclaim throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe, Israel, and other countries around the world and an especially triumphant series of concerts in her native Romania.
