Rachel Unthank: shortlisted for 2008 Mercury Prize!

Rachel Unthank has been shortlisted for the 2008 Mercury Prize - an annual music prize awarded for the best album from the United Kingdom or Ireland! Her second album The Bairns is a serious contender - and it's already an award-winning record, having taken home the 2008 BBC Horizon Award. Past winners of this prestigious Mercury Prize include the likes of Portishead, Antony and the Johnsons, PJ Harvey, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys... to name a few.  Past nominees for the award have included other critically acclaimed Brits such as Miss Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone, David Bowie, and M.I.A.
