Public Forum takes over Joe’s Pub for a four-night series of conversations about the art of songwriting. Director of Public Forum Michael Friedman will sit down with Heather Christian (Obie Award-winning composer/performer), Tom Kitt (Pulitzer Prize winner, Next to Normal), K'naan (poet, rapper, singer), Dave Malloy (Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812), Mitski (indie rock singer), Meredith Monk (composer, performer, director), Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land), Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), Somi (African jazz, soul, pop), Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home, Caroline, or Change),  and other musicians and songwriters from all genres to discuss what it is that they do when they write a song – and how they make their own particular brand of magic.
